Five Verses I Pray for My Baby

The first name I wanted for my blog was taken. The name itself, which in my mind, was perfect ... and as I did a quick search using synonyms of my theoretical title, I realized that many people had had this perfect idea before I did. Well, shucks. (I had borrowed the idea from a book I read and loved when I was probably 13 years old, which most likely borrowed it from 1 Peter 2:11. So it wasn't exactly the most original thought).

So, I went back to the drawing board and started scrolling through my Kindle highlights from this summer's re-read of The Lord of the Rings. One quote caught my attention:

"'Don't adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on the story.'"

It reminded me of a sermon or lecture I heard about John 21:25 - "Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." (ESV)

The speaker suggested that the author had not only a past, but also a future view in mind - that is, he was speaking of everything Jesus had done, and everything Jesus would do, through and in his disciples.

That means us, too.

It's an idea that's resonated with me for years. We are part of the stories about Jesus. The world can't contain the books that could be written about the things Jesus has done through His followers, including us.

Here, I'll share some of the stories Jesus has written in and through my life.
